Jiffy model 30 troubles Help!!! I have recently aquired a older Jiffy model 30, 10" ice auger. It will start but it wont stay running. Also it is leaking gas from what I guess is the bowl on the carb. There is a square plate with 4 screws with what appears to be a gasket betwen the cover and the Carb bowl. The screws are tight.Jiffy now offers augers powered by propane and 4-stroke engines that take straight gas instead of a gas/oil mixture. We drilled over 1,000 holes with the Jiffy Propane Auger last winter and it outperformed our expectations in every category. It handled everything we threw at it, including cold temps and thick ice.

I am currently using a z51 eskimo powerhead with a 10 inch kluge drill. The thickest ice i have tested it on is 11 inches. It starts and idles very well. It will idle while laying on its side and the auger doesnt spin on a guy while idling. If going with a 10 inch go the eskimo route. If going 8" or 8.5 inch go with a tanaka powerhead.
