It may have been replaced upside down which will cause problems. To further break the gun down, punch out the two pins that hold the trigger group in the gun. Remove the group, then slide the bolt forward out of the gun. Then remove the buttstock and I would remove the spring that returns the bolt. The serial number and markings all indicate it was made after 1938 when the Model 11 and Sportsman were no longer serialized separately. According to the ledger of serial numbers found on the RSA web site, the last serial number for a 20GA Sportsmans was 1070476, made in June of 1942, when production stopped for the war.
What I was referring to was my Sportsman 48 has the same friction ring but also a couple of additional rings, one of which you can reverse depending on the load. The Model 11 schematic shows very similar rings. My 11-48 doesn't have those two additional rings, only the friction ring. Aug 29, 2016 · The Sportsman has a "crimped tube" that only holds two rounds whereas the regular 11-48 will hold 4 rounds (plus one in the chamber). I picked up my old 11-48 at a gun show many years ago. I think I paid $50 for it and it is still in great condition. The code on the barrel indicates it was made in 1950.

Remington sportsman 58. Last Thursday I traded a friend a 870 express for his sportsman 58. I think this was a pretty good trade. I have just finished cleaning it, some parts were so dirty I had to soak them for 3 days in hoppes. Overall the gun is in pretty decent shape.
