Degrease everything first. Use red Loctite to secure the tube to the lower receiver. Don't use Loctite on the recoil tube nut. The Loctite will set-up best if the stock is in place, and used to support the tube while the Loctite dries. The only purpose of the rod is to keep the recoil spring straight so you can compress it back into the stock assembly and screw the retaining screw back in place.
