You're not forced to. You can apply either independently of QB or select them on the QB RD form so that they get your QB application as well. This depends on whether you feel your QB application adds to your application or not. I've heard of kids with family incomes of over $200k a year getting matched. You'd have to have an outstanding application otherwise, but it's possible. Secondly, assets aren't as big of a deal as income in my experience.
The general consensus is that most applicants make <$65000, if you make a little more itâs still fine. QuestBridge is most for applicants within this range or more if there are circumstances like medical bills or debt. If you are not low income then it might not be best to apply.

Yup! I'm applying to UCs as well and they do not have early action or decision so it is not going against any QuestBridge rules. Do note that the actual deadline is Nov 30, and match day this year is Dec 1, so we'd turn in the UC app before we know if we are matched or not. Same thing is true of the CSUs if you're also applying to those as wellYou can get into med school from going to a state school, ivy, T20, or lac. Any of the QB schools will get you into med school.
