Dreams is all family. Elegance has family and AO sections. At Dreams, depending on the category booked you could be in a building closest to the ocean. At Elegance, only the AOs are next to the ocean. Family buildings are further in. But at either, even from the lobby it's no more than a 5 minute walk to the beach.

Was at the Colonial in Mar. 2023. Beautiful place. Food was great. Staff amazing. Clean. Beach was excellent with very little sargassum. Between Majestic or Excellence, the Excellence Resort receives top recommendation - especially if ocean swimming is not a factor.
