Obtaining and getting through GI residency is not a cake walk, and attending share call which can often involve emergent procedures such as food impactions, emergent ERCP. I think heme onc offers a better lifestyle. But at the end of the day, you have to enjoy the subject matter to remain happy as an attending for decades. Because while I like IM, I can't see myself practicing it everyday. I feel like heme-onc is the field that I would be happy being in for the rest of my career and right now, it's my sole goal.
