I know they will likely need some fitting, gun came with wood grips, just wanted a second set of the black ones. It's not in any way a definitive sampling, but the grip frames on all the 3rd gens that I've owned/examined, are slightly longer (1/16" - 1/8"), than 2nd or 1st gens I've compared them to. 1st and 2nds in my experience are quite a bit closer in size to each other. Colt made a run of them for 3rd Gens for the CCA. Each frame was stamped with the CCA number and I think they were in 38-40. Most of the FDL grips were sold off as they brought a pretty dollar.
