Detroit 60 series starting problems.
I have a no start probelm with a Detroit 60 series engine mounted in a Freightliner. It is throwing fault code 42 too few SRS (missing SRS), replaced SRS sensor, Checked wiring to sensor, checked power supply and ignition power. Everything OK but engine refueses to start, however it runs on starting fluid.

Even if your voltmeter says things are ok when your cranking your starter is spiking your truck voltage down and your DDEC is shutting off or at best not able to provide enough voltage to fire the injectors. I have a detroit series 60 12.7L engine in an international truck. I had the engine running for about an hour, turned it off for an hour, now it wont start. turns over really well. I cchanged crank position sensor and synchronization sensor. still wont start. i also pressured up the fuel tank while engine was being rolled over- nothing.

3533 posts · Joined 2009. #5 · Dec 31, 2011. You need 195 RPM and an SRS signal to start, If you can get a reader, it will have a section for SRS and while cranking it must go to yes, and the speed must be above 195. Some codes set to 255 counts and the engine will not start untill they are fixed.
