It's an Astatic D-104 microphone, the "chrome lollipop." I think the originals had high-impedance crystal microphone elements, so probably not a bad match to a modern transceiver. And if it has a preamp, that should take care of any matching issues anyway. It seems a little unusual that a musician would have one.
