I'd worry about weld distortion and keeping the belt contact surface as designed, but given the price I'd consider giving it a shot. You didn't damage it, but you are suffering from a very common problem with JD Gators in general. The Primary clutch is sticking. Basically as the clutch warms up during operation friction increases within causing the clutch halves not to fully disengage.First, remove the bed. You will need a metric set of wrenches. Then a 1/4" drive metric socket set helps a lot as does having a good supply of 1/4" extensions and a universal joint.
