I have been looking and the national forest is all over the place. Is it better to hunt the Colville National Forest in GMU 101 or GMU 111 or GMU 108.

Seems like they are in this area a lot. There was 4 or 5 small bulls and one three or four point bull. The angle that you come to them is very important, for that reason. Since they are usually in bigger herds than they early season 5 cows and a bull scenario, they are harder to hunt.Forums. I've never been to the state, but I understand the hunting is good, and the state itself is very diverse with landscape and game species. Every elk behave differently, I'd never say leave a call home live learn and get better that's what hunting is about. Killing a big herd bull in peak rut is tough. Catch him pre rut he is easier to get close to. The later season should provide for cooler Temps for sure.
